THE PARTING FROM OUR MONGOLS
On the evening of February 2nd our Mongols took leave of us. I thanked them for faithful service and wished them a happy journey. They had played their parts in our expedition, and were now about to leave the scene for good. They returned to their camp outside the town, but did not start on their journey home until the 12th. As ANDREWS has related in his »New Conquest of Central Asia », they fell in with his expedition somewhere to the west of Beli-miao.1
Several of them had previously served under ANDREWS and we shall meet many of them again in the following parts of this work.
1 More precisely at the brook which ANDREWS calls Hei Ne Ho, i. e. the Khonin-chaghan-chölo-gol. F. B.
