[Figure] 金塔 金塔の壁は、胸壁を含めて高さが約5尋ある。城壁は狭い。壁の突出部はそれほど大きくはない。北に面している門のみが、奥行き20-25ヤードの壁の突出部により防護されている。外側のアーチ状入り口は奥行き11ヤード、内側のものは奥行き17ヤードある。南東角には、東に面した小さな隠し門がある。堀は小さく - 所々欠けている。壁は幾分手入れされていない。出入り口だけが焼きレンガで出来ている。門の上と南東角の上に格子造りの木造の塔がある。 - 壁の内側の区域はぎっしりと人が居住しており、曲がりくねって狭い通りがある。協台の衙門とおそらく武器店が街の北半分の中央にある。 Tinguanの衙門は街の中央にある。 - 街は、要塞の壁から周囲を見渡せる平坦な平原に位置している。土地は、北北東・北東・東・南東そして南のほうでは、耕作されしかもぎっしりと人が居住している。水路や土壁、様々なでこぼこ、家屋や樹木がある。しかしながら、北西・西・南西には人の居住していない、幅が1 1/3マイルの開けた平原がある。家並みやまばらな樹木はその東側や、北から南へと走っている。全ての道路は立派で、水路はわずかに深い。筆者による作図。CHINTA. Outer archway 11 yds, inner one 17 yds deep. In the SE corner there is a small secret gate facing E. Fosse small - lacking in some places. Wall rather neglected. Only the archways of baked bricks. Above the gates and on the SE corner pagodas of wooden lattice-work. - The space inside the wall is densely populated and has winding, narrow streets. The Hsietai's yamen and possibly stores of arms in the centre of the N half of the town. the Tinguan's yamen in the centre of the town. - The town lies in a level plain commanded on all sides by the walls of the fortress. The land is tilled and densely populated in the NNE, NE, E, SE and S. Ariqs, clay walls, various irregularities, houses and trees. In the NW, W and SW, however, there is an uninhabited open plain, about 1 1/3 mile wide. A row of houses and sparse trees runs E of it from N to S. All the roads good and ariqs of slight depth. - Drawn by the author.
