Description With an overview of Central Asia, the narrative recounts Stein’s expedition over the Hindu Kush, the Pamirs and the Kun Lun Mountains, as well as his visit to Niya, Endeare, Miran, and Loulan. It also recounts the team’s expeditions to the westernmost remains of the Great Wall and the Mogao Caves at Dunhuang, as well as over the Qilian (or Southern) Mountains and the Tian Shan Range. There is a description of the relics found Turfan and recounts the route from Kuruk-Tag to Kashgar and then on to the Pamir highlands to explore the source of the Oxus River.
