From SRINAGAR (Kashmir) to DAs, or TANG,
(Hasôra).
A secondary route, passable for horses. Literature: Montgomerie's Memorandum, p. 12.
Srindgar, 34° 4'.G; 74° 48'.51; 5,146 ft., on the Jhflum river, the capital of Kashmir.
Bdndipur, by boat, or, if by land, in two marches, viz. Srindgar— Sinbul — Bknclipur—Cross the Bnrze La pass.
Jotktisu. Kanzlayan.
Duvar, or Gurus, on the left bank of the Kishangânga river (level of the river 7,718 ft.) —Achûre.
Z i d n (8,162 ft.) — Q Dudigâi— p Shérri Kai p Pûshu Bai (8,810 ft.).
K6ti— Cross the Dorikôn pass (13,788 ft.) p Posarbat Brânsa— p S Iti Déo.
Das, or Tang, 35° 2'; 75° 4'; 10,794 ft., the highest village in the Diskérim valley.
Route No. 201.
From SRINAGAR (Gârhvâl) to DEOPREÂG (Gârhvâl). A principal route, passable for horses.
Two easy marches; viz.: Sri nicgar to Rambr gh, second march to Deoprelg, at the confluence of the Alaknânda and Bhagirâthi rivers (level of the confluence 1,953 ft.).
Latitudes and longitudes:
Srinagar 30 13; 78 46.
Deopreâg 30 8; 78 35.
Route No. 202.
From SRINAGAR (Gârhvâl) to DiRA (Gârhvâl).
A principal route, passable for horses. A good made road.

Srindgar, 30° 13'; 78° 46', on the left bank of the Alaknânda river.
Sit a k 6 t, with a dharamsala, 10 miles from Srinagar.
Bc irat ka Sardi, with a dharamsâla, 15 miles from Sitaka—Cross the Nayâr river by a rope-bridge (in summer it is fordable).
Ch u n d p u r, with a dharamsâla, 10 miles from Bâirat ka Sarai (a very easy stage).
Bairag drh, with a dharamsala — Cross the Ganges at Tapuban by a suspension-bridge — Continue 21/4 miles along its right bank.
Rikikhés, on the right bank of the Ganges, 10 miles from Bairagarh (level of the river 1,377 ft.). The route from Bairagarh to Rikikhés may be also so modified, that you continue from Bairagarh along the left bank of the Ganges, crossing it at Rikikhés by a ferryboat; if much luggage is to be brought over, this will cause much delay—Cross a few nalahs (in summer mostly dry) — Cross the Jâkhan Rau nalah — 2 miles later the Song nalah.
L a c h i v a l a, a small village on the Song nalah, 8 miles from Kansrâu — Pass through several villages scattered in the Dan and the forests.
Derct, 30° 18'•9; 78° l'.01; hôtel (2,240 ft.).
