From SRINAGAR (Gärhväl) to DEIIL (Girhvfil).

Srindgar, 30° 13'; 78° 46', on the left bank of the Alaknânda river — Cross the Alaknânda river by a jhnla-bridge (the cordage is made from a species of sedge, Eriophorum comosum)
Cross the D indu river (2 miles from Srinagar)
Mâleta, on the right bank of the Alaknânda river.
T dt k o l i, a short stage; 12 miles (5 hours' march) —Follow the Tikoli river — Turn off to the right and ascend a small pass (road steep)— Steep descent.

From SRINAGAR (Gärhvâl) to KARNPREAG
(Gärhvb,l).
There are two different routes: one, the principal, although the longer, along the left bank of the Alaknânda river; the other, a secondary one,
by Sevanândi. Both routes are passable for horses.
