"Country of the Rajpits." Properly Raja-putra-sthana (sthana, abode place, country).

The Rajpûts, a branch of the Kshatriyas, are now one of the most numerous tribes of Hindes. Originally the kings had to be chosen from the caste of the Kshatriyas. Other names of this province are: Raj-vara, Raja-sthan.
