Content of Research
The first phase of developing the 3D models from 2005 to 2007 revealed problems related to simultaneous use of heterogeneous data by the 3D modelers (technical errors, architectural errors, CG modeling errors). To overcome these problems, we prepared unified and precise data combining all the heterogeneous data, information on the geometrical forms, and details of the spaces and buildings.
We developed a CAD-Based 3D technical drawing (a wire frame model) as a unified basic drawing of the Citadel. This model was prepared by complementary application of heterogeneous data, and it can easily be imported to a 3ds Max® environment and completed by 3D modelers who have little domain knowledge. The development process consisted of:
1-Selection of 3D modeling tool and Auto CAD®
2-Provision of initial 3D drawing for interior and exterior space
3-Geometrical modification of initial 3D drawing such as the general shape of interior vault
4-Structural modification of initial 3D drawing such as the exact shape of an arch or vault
5-Proportional modification of initial 3D drawing such as thickness of a wall or height of a niche
6-Modification or addition of ornaments and details such as chalk band decorations
