鎖陽城は唐代の瓜州城の遺跡である。他の唐代の城跡と同様、複雑な増築の様子が残っている。内城の中に残っている柳の木。ここで柳の枝を折って旅立つ人と別れを惜しんだ、というが、本当かどうかわからない。城内には柳はこの一本しかないという。
