الـنـوربة قَـرَّهـا السلطان نور الدين محمود بن زنكى والمدرسة
الشرابشية قَرَّهـا شهاب الدين الشرابشئ التاجر والحنـابـلة
مدارس كثيرة اعظمها المدرسة النجيمية،
ذكر ابواب دمشق لمدينة دمشق ثمانية ابواب منها باب
الفراديس ومنها باب الجابية ومنها باب الصغـير وفيما بين
هاذين البابين مقبرة فيها العدد الجَمّ من الصحابة والشهداء
فن بعدهم قال محمد بن جزى لقد احسن بعض المتأخرين
من اهل دمشق في قوله (رجز)
دمشقُ في اوصافها جنَّةُ خُلْدٍ راضِيَةٌ
mâlikites, et qu'il rend ses jugements; l'autre est le collége
Ennoûriyah, construit par le sultan Noûr eddin Mahmoûd,
fils de Zenguy; et le troisième, la medréceh Echchéràbichiyeh,
construite par Chihâb eddin Echchéràbichy (fabricant ou
marchand de cherbouches, espèce de coiffure), le marchand.
Les hanbélites ont à Damas un grand nombre de collèges; le
principal est la medréceh Ennadjmiyeh.
DES PORTES DE DAMAS.
Cette ville à huit portes: l'une d'elles est la porte d'El-
farâdis (des jardins), une autre la porte d'Eldjâbiyah (du
bassin; et nom d'un lieu près de Damas), une troisième
celle appelée Bâb essaghir (la petite porte). Entre ces deux
dernières il y a un cimetière où sont enterrés un très-
grand nombre de compagnons de Mahomet, de martyrs, et
d'autres personnages plus récents.
Mohammed, fils de Djozay, dit : « Un poète moderne de
Damas s'est exprimé avec élégance, ainsi qu'il suit, au su-
jet du nombre de ses portes : »
Damas, par ses qualités, est un jardin de l'éternité (ou du paradis),
agréable.
