بكر الصِدِّيق رضى الله عنه قعد على وُسطاشِنَّ وجعل رجليه
على اولاهنَّ فلما وَلِّي عمر رضى الله عنه جلس على اولاهنَّ
وجعل رجليه على الارض وفعل ذلك عثمانُ رضى الله عنه
صدرًا من خلافته ثم ترقَّى الى الثالثة ولما ان صار الامرُ الى
معاوية رضى الله عنه اراد نقل المنبر الى الشام فضَجَّ المسلمون
وعصفت ريحٌ شديدة وخسفت الشمس وبدت النجوم نهارًا
واظلمت الارض فكان الرجلُ يصادم الرجُلَ ولا يتبيَّن مسلك
فلما رأى ذلك معاوية تركه وزاد فيه ستَّ درجات من اسفله
فبلغ تسع درجات،
ذكر الخطيب والامام بمحمد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسم
وكان الامام بالمحمد الشريف في عهد دخوله الى المدينة بهآء
Lorsque Abou Becr, le très-sincère, fut investi du pouvoir,
il s'assit sur le degré du milieu, et posa ses pieds sur le pre-
mier. Quand Omar lui succéda, il s'assit sur le premier et
posa ses pieds sur le sol. Othmân en agit de même dans le
commencement de son khalifat; mais, plus tard, il monta sur
la troisième marche. Quand l'autorité appartint à Mo'aouiyah,
il voulut transporter la chaire à Damas; mais les musul-
mans jetèrent les hauts cris; un vent violent souffla, le so-
leil s'éclipsa, les étoiles parurent en plein jour, la terre se
trouva dans l'obscurité, en sorte que les hommes se heur-
taient l'un contre l'autre, et le chemin n'était pas visible.
A cause de cela, Mo'aouiyah renonça à son projet, ajouta à la
partie inférieure de la chaire six marches; et leur nombre
fut ainsi porté à neuf.
