السلطان ثانية فحضر اعجاى واعتذروا له عنّى وجئت بعد
صلاة العصر فصلّيت بالمشور المغرب والعشاء الآخرة ثمّ خرج
للحاجب فاستدعانا فدخل خداوندزادة ضياء الدين وهو
أكبر الاخوة المذكورين فجعله السلطان امير داد وهو من
الامراء الكبار أحضره بين بديه وجعل مرتبه على هذه الخطّة
خمسين الف دينار في السنة عيّن له تجاشر قائدها ذلك
المقدار فامر له بخمسين الف عن يد وخلع عليه خلعة حرير
مزركشة تسمّى صورة الشبر ومعناه صورة السبع لانّه يكون في
صدرها وظهرها صورة سبع وقد خيط في باطن الخلعة بطاقة
seoir. Le souverain nous demanda une seconde fois; mes
camarades entrèrent et ils m'excusèrent auprès de lui. Je
revins après la prière de l'après-midi, et j'accomplis dans
la salle d'audience les deux prières du coucher du soleil et
de la nuit close.
Le chambellan sortit et nous appela; Khodhâouend
Zâdeh Dhiyâ eddin entra, et c'était l'aîné des trois frères
mentionnés plus haut. Le sultan le nomma émir dâd « com-
mandant de la justice », ce qui désigne un des principaux émirs.
Il siégeait dans le tribunal du juge, et se faisait amener les
personnes qui avaient quelque droit à faire valoir contre un
commandant ou un grand. Le souverain fixa son traitement
pour cet emploi à cinquante mille dînârs par an; il lui assi-
gna des prairies du revenu de cette somme, et lui donna cin-
quante mille dînârs comptant. Il le revêtit d'une robe d'hon-
neur de soie chamarrée d'or et appelée la figure du chîr, ou
du lion, car elle portait sur le devant, ainsi qu'au dos, la re-
présentation d'un lion. On avait cousu dans l'intérieur
du vêtement un billet qui faisait connaître la quantité de
