ذكر غزوة لنا بهذا الطريق وفي اول غزوة شهدتها بـبـلاد
الهند ولما اردنا السفر من مدينة ابوشر خرج الناس منـهـا
اول النهار واقمت بها الى نصف النهار في لُمَّة من احبابي ثـم
خرجنا ونحن اثنان وعشرون فارساً منهم عربٌ ومنهم اعاجم
فخرج علينا في تلك الحصراء ثمانون رجلاً من الكـفـار وفارسان
وكان احبابي ذوي مجدة وعناء فقاتلناهم اشد القتال فقتلنا احد
الفارسين منهم وغنمنا فرسه وقتلنا من رجالـهـم نحـو اثني
عشر رجلاً واصابتني نشابة واصابت فرسي نشابة ثانية ومنَّ الله
بالسلامة منها لانَّ نُشَّابهم لا قوَّة لها وجُرِحَ لاحد احبابـنـا
فرس عوَّضناه له بفرس الكافر ودجَّجنا فرسه الجـروح فاكله

Lorsque nous voulûmes partir de la ville d'Abouher, le
gros de la troupe en sortit au commencement du jour, et
j'y restai jusqu'à midi avec quelques-uns de mes compa-
gnons; puis nous partîmes, au nombre de vingt-deux ca-
valiers, les uns Arabes, les autres étrangers. Quatre-vingts
idolâtres à pied, plus deux cavaliers, nous assaillirent dans
la plaine. Mes camarades étaient doués de courage et de fer-
meté; nous résistâmes donc très-vigoureusement aux assail-
lants, nous tuâmes un de leurs cavaliers et prîmes son
cheval. Quant aux gens de pied, nous en tuâmes environ
douze. Une flèche m'atteignit et une seconde atteignit mon
cheval. Dieu daigna me préserver de tout mal; car les traits
lancés par les Indiens n'ont pas de force. Cependant, un
de nos compagnons eut un cheval blessé; nous l'indemnisâmes au moyen du cheval pris à l'idolâtre, et nous égor-
geâmes l'animal blessé, qui fut mangé par les Turcs de notre
troupe.
