المدينة الى باب القصر بشباب الخرير وعشى امامه المشاة من
عبيده وهم آلاى وتكون الافواج والعساكر خلفه ورايت
في بعض قدماته على الحضرة وقد نصبت ثلاث او اربع من
الوّقادات الصغار على الفيلة ترمى بالدنانير والدراهم على
الناس فيلتقطونها من حين دخوله الى المدينة حتى وصل
الى قصـــوره ،
ذكر ترتيب الطعام للخاصّ والطعام بدار السلطان على صنفين
طعام للخاصّ وطعام العامّ فامّا للخاصّ فهو طعام السلطان الذى
يأكل منه وعادته ان يأكل في مجلسه مع الحاضرين ويحضر لذلك
الامرآء للخواصّ وامير حاجب ابن عمّ السلطان وعماد الملك

ses esclaves, au nombre de plusieurs milliers; la foule et
les soldats sont par derrière.
J'ai été présent quelquefois à son entrée dans la capitale,
revenant de voyage. On avait dressé trois ou quatre petites
balistes (littéralement: « petites machines tonnantes; petits
tonnerres ») sur les éléphants. Elles lançaient sur les assis-
tants des pièces d'argent et d'or, que ceux-ci ramassaient.
Cela commença au moment de l'entrée du sultan dans la
ville, et dura jusqu'à son arrivée au château.
DE LA DISPOSITION DU REPAS PRIVÉ.
Il y a deux sortes de repas dans le palais du sultan : ce-
lui des grands et celui du public. Quant au premier, c'est
le repas où mange le souverain; et il a l'habitude de faire
cela dans la salle d'audience, en compagnie des personnes
présentes. Ce sont : les émirs les plus intimes, l'émir cham-
bellan, cousin du monarque, 'Imâd almoule Sertiz, et l'émir
