فاحضر ثلاثتهم بين يديه فـقال اذهبوا بهذا يعنى عفيف
الدين ناصربوا عنقه جـآتـل وهو ان يُقطع الراس مع الذراع
وبعض الصدر واضربوا اعناق الآخرَيْن فقالا له امّا هو فمستحق
العقاب بقوله وامّا نحن فباىّ جرمة تقتلنا فقال لهما اتّكا
سمعتما كلامه فمر تُنكراه فكأنّكا وافقتما عليه فقُتلوا جميعاً رحمهم
الله تعالى ،
ذكر قتله ايضا لفقيهين من اهل السند كانا في خدمته
وامر السلطان هذَيْن الفقيهين السنديَّـين ان يمضيا مع
امير عيّنه الى بعض البلاد وقال لهما انّما سلّمت احوال البلاد
والرعيّة لكما ويكون هذا الامير معكما بتصرّن بما تأمرانه به فقالا

discours. D'après son ordre, on les amena tous les trois en
sa présence; alors il dit (à ses suppôts) : « Partez avec celui-
ci (en désignant 'Afif eddin), et coupez-lui le cou, à la
manière des baudriers. » Cela veut dire qu'on tranche la
tête avec un bras et une portion de la poitrine. Il ajouta :
« Et coupez le cou aux deux autres. » Ceux-ci dirent au sou-
verain : « Pour 'Afif eddin, il mérite d'être châtié à cause
de son propos; mais nous, pour quel crime nous fais-tu
mourir? » Le monarque répondit : « Vous avez entendu son
discours et ne l'avez pas désapprouvé; c'est donc comme si
vous aviez été de son avis. » Ils furent tués tous les trois.
Que Dieu ait pitié d'eux!
DU MEURTRE COMMIS PAR LE SULTAN SUR DEUX JURISCONSULTES
DU SIND, QUI ÉTAIENT À SON SERVICE.
Le sultan ordonna à ces deux jurisconsultes du Sind de
se rendre dans une certaine province, en compagnie d'un
commandant qu'il avait désigné. Il leur dit : « Je mets entre
vos mains les affaires de la province et des sujets; cet émir
