ذِكر الخَّار الصِبنِّي وَامَّا الخَّار الصِبنِّي فلا يصنع منها
إلَّا بمدينة الزيتون وبصِني كلان وهو من تراب جبال هنالك
تَـقَد فيه النار كالحم وسنذكر ذلك ويُضيفون اليه (1) حجارة
عندهم ويوقدون النار عليها ثلاثة أيَّام ثمَّ يصبُّون عليها المَاء
فيعود لجميع ترابًا ثمَّ يُجَّرونه فالجيِّد منه ما خُـمِّـر شهرًا كاملًا
ولا يُزاد على ذلك والدون ما خُمِّر عشرة أيَّام وهو هنالك بقيمة
الخَّار ببلادنا او ارخص مِنَّا ويُحمل الى الهند وسائر الاقالم حتَّى
يصل الى بلادنا بالمغرب وهو ابدع انواع الخَّار،
ذكر دجاج الصين ودَجاج الصين ودُبوكها مخمة جدًّا
DE LA POTERIE CHINOISE OU PORCELAINE.
On ne fabrique pas en Chine la porcelaine, si ce n'est dans
les villes de Zeïtoun et de Sîn-calân. Elle est faite au moyen
d'une terre tirée des montagnes qui se trouvent dans ces
districts, laquelle terre prend feu comme du charbon, ainsi
que nous le dirons plus tard. Les potiers y ajoutent une
certaine pierre qui se trouve dans le pays; ils la font brû-
ler pendant trois jours, puis versent l'eau par-dessus, et le
tout devient comme une poussière ou une terre qu'ils font
fermenter. Celle dont la fermentation a duré un mois entier,
mais pas plus, donne la meilleure porcelaine; celle qui n'a
fermenté que pendant dix jours, en donne une de qualité
inférieure à la précédente. La porcelaine en Chine vaut le
même prix que la poterie chez nous, ou encore moins. On
l'exporte dans l'Inde et les autres contrées, jusqu'à ce qu'elle
arrive dans la nôtre, le Maghreb. C'est l'espèce la plus belle
de toutes les poteries.
