فِي الثَّغْرِ صَانَ اللَّهُ مَنْ أُهِّلَتْ بِهِ
وَمَا خَبَرُ ثَغْرٍ لَا يَكُونُ بَرُودَا
رَجَعَ ذَكَرُ سُلْطَانِهَا وَكَانَ مَلِكُ غِرْنَاطَةَ فِي عَهْدِ دُخُولِي إِلَيْهَا
السُّلْطَانُ أَبُو الْحَجَّاجِ يُوسُفُ بْنُ السُّلْطَانِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ
ابْنِ فَرَجٍ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ يُوسُفَ بْنِ نَصْرٍ وَلَمَرَالَّتِهِ بِسَبَبِ مَرَضٍ
كَانَ بِهِ وَبَعَثَتْ إِلَيَّ وَالِدَتُهُ الْحُرَّةُ الصَّالِحَةُ الْفَاضِلَةُ بِدَنَانِيرَ ذَهَبٍ
ارْتَفَقْتُ بِهَا وَلَقِيتُ بِغِرْنَاطَةَ نُجَبَاءَ مِنْ فُضَلَائِهَا مِنْهُمْ قَاضِي
الْجَمَاعَةِ بِهَا الشَّرِيفُ النَّبِيهُ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ
الْحُسَيْنِيُّ السِّبْتِيُّ وَمِنْهُمْ فَقِيهُهَا الْمُدَرِّسُ لِلطَّلَبِ الْعَالِمُ أَبُو عَبْدِ
اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَيَّانِيُّ وَمِنْهُمْ عَالِمُهَا وَمُقْرِئُهَا لِلطَّلَبِ أَبُو
C'est le THAGHR, ou la place frontière, dont les habitants sont aidés
et secourus par Dieu. Or ce n'est pas le meilleur THAGHR, ou la meilleure
bouche, celle qui n'est point fraîche. »
(On voit qu'il y a ici un jeu de mots, car *thaghr* signifie
en même temps frontière, bouche, etc.)
DU SULTAN DE GRENADE.
Au temps où j'entrai dans cette ville, elle était gouvernée
par le sultan Aboû'l Haddjâdj Yoûçuf, fils du sultan Aboû'l
Oualid Ismâ'il, fils de Fardj, fils d'Ismâ'il, fils de Yoûçuf,
fils de Nasr. Je n'ai pu le voir à cause d'une maladie qui
l'affligeait; mais sa mère, la noble, la pieuse et la vertueuse,
m'envoya des pièces d'or, qui me furent très-utiles.
Je vis à Grenade plusieurs de ses savants, tels que : 1° le
juge de la communion des fidèles en cette ville, le noble,
l'éloquent Aboûl Kâcim Mohammed, fils d'Ahmed, fils de
Mohammed, de la postérité de Hoçain, et originaire de
Ceuta; 2° son jurisconsulte, le professeur, le savant pré-
dicateur Aboû 'Abdallah Mohammed, fils d'Ibrâhim Al-
bayyâny, ou de Baena; 3° son savant et son lecteur du Co-
