盲目の音楽家 これらは我々にとっての手回しオルガン奏者と同じほど深刻な厄介者である。気前のいい寄付がなくては、彼らを追い払うことはできない。しかしその奏でる音は演奏者自身しか耐えられるものではないため、どれほど金がかかっても彼らを追いやりたいと人々に思わせることで、むしろうまい汁を吸っている。ここに写っている楽器は二胡である。中国人は、国内のあらゆる都市で出くわす盲目の乞食と音楽家を、非常に哀れみ、同情している。BLIND MUSICIANS. These are nearly as great a plague as are our organ grinders. Without a handsome donation it is impossible to get rid of them; but as the sounds they produce are unbearable by any one but themselves, they make rather a good thing out of people's desire to dismiss them at any price. The instrument delineated here is a guitar. Chinese have much pity and sympathy for the blind beggars and musicians that one encounters in every native city.
