und erfrischende Kühle. Was die Jagdreliefs betrifft, so ist eine Stelle bei Ammianus Marcellinus
(XXIV, 6) besonders interessant; er erzählt gelegentlich des Perserkrieges Julians, daß die Römer
in der Nähe des Tigris bei Seleucia inmitten eines Parkes ein Jagdschloß gefunden hätten, dessen
sämtliche Wände mit Gemälden bedeckt gewesen wären. Hier wäre der Perserkönig auf der Ausübung
verschiedenartiger Jagd dargestellt gewesen. Der Autor fährt dann fort: „Nec enim apud eos pingitur
vel fingitur aliud praeter varias caedes et bella."
