四海圖第四十七 每方二千里
The ERHYA says in the description of the land: The JI, the STU, the TUNG, the KUAN mark the FOUR SEAS, that mean the earth, not the waters. Thereto they belong to the description of the limit out to the shore of the waters. Outside of the 9 prov. are the FOUR SEAS, this means of course not the extension of the waters.
The Shan-yüan of Liu Hsin(ing) B.C. 90 says: Within the 9 provinces are the Four Seas, within the Four Seas are the 9 provinces.
