So with my plans well settled beforehand it was easy to push on rapidly the arrangements for our respective moves. The careful packing of the ancient wood-carvings, etc., with whatever materials I could improvise, cost time and labour. But all the men, my Indians included, showed unusual alacrity at the prospect of leaving behind this desolate working-ground, and to complete the task worked cheerfully by the light of bonfires till late at night.
