From SRINAGAR (Kashmir) to RAULPÎNDI (Pâniab).
A principal route, passable for horses. Road partly made and generally good.

Srindgar, 340 4'• 6; 74° 48'•51; 5,146 ft., on the Jhflum river, • the capital of Kashmir. As far as
Ba r a m zi l a the best and easiest way is by going by boat clown the Jhflum, and passing through the Vollar lake — Cross the Jhflum
river Continue along the left bank of the
Jhflum river—Shéri—Kichihama—Gantamnla.
Na u s h é r a, an easy stage from Baramnla — Cross the Jhflum river by a ferry — LfmburCross a river by a bridge-Tetamûlla-Kciichena —Cross a river —Mirka — Cross the NIla Nag river by a bridge—Gfngal—Doar—Purina Uri.
G ô r i y d r h, a fort on the right bank of the Jhflum river, opposite Uri—Continue as far as Mozâfarabad along the right side of the Jhflum valley — Da,chi Sultan Bald—Cross a riverSkiidera — Cross a river — Talficha — Steep descent—Cross the Léven river—Rfkund—Pala — Méra.
Kathai, rather a long march—Cross the Kârthama river by a bridge—Bara.
Bulidssa, 7 miles from Kathai (an easy march) — Cross a large river by a bridge — Denaia NaugrA—Chirôi—Kando—Nadô t— Adamshahar —Kâkarvara—Naushéra—Néra—Dobata—Cross a river.
Hathidn, on the right bank of the Jhflum river (level of the river 2,529 ft.) — Continue
along the right bank of the Jhilum river — Tutatéri— Balotar — Lângarpur (2,266 ft.).
Mozafarabdd (2,221 ft.), 14 miles from Hathian — Cross the Kishanganga river by a bridge (level of the river 2,164 ft.) — Cross the Düp pass (4,491 ft.).
Gdrhi Havibtilla (2,678 ft.), with a small bangalo, on the right bank of the Nainsfik river; the village is situated on its left bank (an easy march)—Continue for two miles along the right bank of the Nainsak river— Utar Lisa (3,633 ft.; road very good, but very winding).
1V!ans6ra, 15 miles from Garhi Havibûlla Mangul (4,024 ft.).
A b b o t a b d d (4,055 ft) — Cl imba (2,197 ft.), on the left bank of the Dbr river.
Hdripur, 20 miles from Abbotabad (road very good, and continues almost level to Raulpincli) —Kot.
Usmdn Kcdtir — Join the Peshaur road Chani ke Sang.
