At the foot of the Flaming Mountain, east of Turfan lies the Grape Gulley, an oasis where the scorching sun is shut off by luxuriant tree foliage and grapevine trellises that cover 220 hectares and are crisscrossed by irrigation ditches. The local Uighur celebrate their grape harvest by dancing under that grapevine ceiling since old times, and it has becomes a sightseeing show for the visitors nowadays.
