Vol. 2: Beginning with Stein’s visit to the Dunhuang’s Caves of the Thousand Buddhas, the narrative includes his investigations of the Han dynasty remains of the Great Wall as well as descriptions of how he came to discover the manuscripts at Dunhuang. He also describes his expedition from Guazhou to the Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province, then continuing via the Southern Tian Shan Mountain Route to Hami, Turfan, Karashahr, Kucha,Aksu, Yarkand, and Khotan.
