German architect who researched ancient architecture through China from 1906 to 1909. After returning to Germany, Boerschman published his photos and observations in a volume of books. He made a field investigation of almost all of China and took many photographs of palaces and religious architecture, such as Buddhist and Taoist temples, as well as of local houses. His many photographs serve as an important reference of historical Chinese architecture from that period. | |
