SINO-SIBERIAN ART

IN THE COLLECTION OF C. T. LOO

PREFACE

Many expressions of gratitude should accompany this book. Everywhere the author has found the disinterested help without which no result, not even a provisory one, may be obtained. The majority of such acknowledgements are to be found in the text and among the notes. But particular thanks are due to the extraordinary zeal of Mrs. Frances Chase Hollis who undertook to translate this work into English and to whom therefore fell the burden of proof reading. The generous response of Mr. Willy Baruch far exceeds what one might expect from a request for information. I am sure the reader will be as grateful to him as is the author for his study on the Si-hia and K'itan writings.

Alfred Salmony.
