Today we are searching everywhere for the first awkwardnesses, the phase of youth. We must not forget that there are later awkwardnesses, the youth of old age, which at times may attain the strength of the beginning. Thus phases in the development of the Sino-Siberian animal style deserve a place in the art of the Far East, as aesthetic as well as historical documents.
