Report on Sir T. D. Forsyth's travel to Yarkund, where he made researches on Turkistan and Yakub Beg in 1873. Forsyth had a great interest in history and archaeology in this region, evoked by a report by a British surveyor, William Johnson, who had surveyed Taklamakan Desert in 1860's and had reported the existence of ancient cities near Khotan.
