From MILUM (Kämâon) to A LOAKA
A principal route, passable for horses.

Milum, 30° 34'•6; 79° 54'•81; 11,265 ft., near the left bank of the Gôri river — Cross the Gûnka river near its confluence with the Gori river—Continue along the slopes to its left—Cross the Hasknri river—p 14iigoni—pChimgiü —pDagbazin—Cross the Koalgong river (level of the confluence with the Gûnka river 11,895 ft.) Samyûng (12,146 ft.), 4 hours' march from Milum — Cross two rivers — Cross several snow bridges.
A Talla Shillong (12,813 ft.), or the lower Shillong, 3 hours' march from pSamging. Grass and shrubs still plentiful. Scarcely any fuel at next stage ; collect it here— p Mûlla Shillong (13,225 ft.), or the upper Shillong, 3/4 hour's walk from p Tilla Shillong. Just at the limit of shrubs. If camp is small, make Mum to pMilla Shillong one stage; a large encampment will do better at p Tilla Shillong on account of pasturage and shrubs—Cross the Shûti pini nâlah — Old moraine (fine view of the Silka Dung peak) — p Small nâlah — p Baltinga meadows — p Dung, on the Lessor river (confluence of Lessor and lita Dhûra rivers, 13,589 ft.), 21/4 hours' march from p Milla Shillong — Ascend the lita Dhûra glacier — p Shikaldini, on the left side of the glacier p Bomriss—p Kal Mâddia—p Chim (6,250ft.), 7 hours' march from p Mâlla Shillong — Cross the lita Dhûra pass (17,627 ft.). Ascent tolerably steep — Lower end of the northern lita Dhûra glacier (15,970 ft.), 2 hours' march from the top of the pass.
ALod ka, 300 46'; 79° 55'; 15,831 ft.. A long and trying stage from p Tilla Shillong to Loka; occupies at least 10 hours. Fuel and grass scarce at p LoAka.
