The observations for Magnetic Dip were taken with Dip Circle No. 2 by Barrow (belonging to the Great " Admiralty Manual of Scientific Enquiry. The rules laid down therein were rigorously adhered to.

The observations for declination were taken with the 6-inch Transit Theodolite (by Troughton and Simms). parisons at Dehra and at Leh, both before the start and after the return of the Mission, proved that no sensible
