The Koreans again have a tradition that walnuts reached them from China about fifteen hundred years ago in the days of the Silla Kingdom.' The Korean names for the fruit are derived from the Chinese: ho do being the equivalent of hu t'ao, kait do corresponding to k'ian t'ao, and ha do to ho t'ao. The Geography of the Ming Dynasty states that walnuts are a product of Korea.'
