The specimens are very young, hence the identification is not quite sure. Geogr. area: Hungary (Heviz lake), Mediterranean region (scattered), subtropical and
tropical Asia and Australia.

This plant seems me so different from S. marilimus L. that it must be considered a good species (see also my list of Cyperaceæ from Lieutn. Olufsen's second Pamir Exp., in Bot. Tids., Bd. 28 [ 1907] 2 20).
Geogr. area: From S. Russia eastwards in desert and steppe regions to Turkestan.
