1090   NOTES ON THE TIBETAN MANUSCRIPTS   [AppendixR

oIl Ilhûmlrelgurlthuhl pahi lnanlgedlnau khram I kyi I bdag I mo I gtor i ma I b'zes II

The text continues overleaf.

  1. K. K. v. b. oio. a. (Paper : fol. r, numbered i, c. 20 x 13 cm. ; 11. 9 of neat Dbu-med script, in places rubbed away. On the reverse a short line of text.)

The text begins with a reference to the Bhagavad Rdo-rje gtumpo gzih-brcid (gzi-brcid)-hbar-ba (Vajracanda pratâpojjvala ?). It proceeds to explain the ritual of a g-tor-ma (bali, ' scattered oblation ').

The reverse, really the obverse, gives the title Rdo-rje-gtum po-(bèugs-sto, ` here begins ').

  1. K. K. v. b. 017. d. (Paper : i fol., numbered 13, c. 21 x 10 cm. ; 11. 8 of very neat and artistic Dbu-med

script. Reverse, 11. 8 of the same, followed by a note in a minute hand.)

The text is a verse description of some place, apparently the realm of the lord of the dead (Ggin-rje=Yama),

whereof it describes the unhappy state. Begins :

. . I dbus • su • dbah • rlabs • chc II

gaps • di • rnams • ni • gran • la • bsil II

brag • di • la • bsdad • kyan • skyo • dub • the II

tsha • rgo • can • la • to • tog . bral 11

gin • rje • gnas • pahi • sa • phyogs • su 11

Possibly this is from a poem of Mi-la Ras-pa, with whose style it accords. The text is continued on the reverse.

  1. K. K. v. b. 031. b. (Paper : i fol., numbered 39, c. 22.5 x 9 cm. ; 11. 8 of minute, neat Dbu-med script,

rather rubbed. Reverse, 11. 8 of the same.)

Moral instructions to a son (bu) or youth. Begins :

... nad • hdu • ba • hkhrug • pahi • Hams • mcd II

bu•khyod• kyan •bde•ba•bled•pa•nall

mi • na • zcr • non • la • phyir • hbrens • dan II

The same text is continued on the reverse.
